BALTIMORE (AP) - Jason Johnson avoided salary arbitration Friday when the right-hander and the Baltimore Orioles agreed on a $4.7 million, two-year contract.

He will make $1.8 million this year and $2.9 million in 2003.

Sidney Ponson, the other Baltimore player in arbitration, asked for $2.9 million and was offered $2.5 million.

You know, he never calls, he never writes.... *sigh*:hmm: ... what's a girl to do?:P

As far as I know, he's been working hard with his off-season training, looking to come back strong after last season ended too soon for him. :ohno:

I've heard he's a demon at conditioning, so I'm thinking he'll probably be in pretty good shape by the time Spring Training starts.

I'm going to Spring Training for the first time EVER! I'll miss the Orioles, but will get to see the Pirates play the Phillies (hi Tank!!!) and the Twins (it'll be before 3/15, so maybe Reeder will still be around). Then, I'll drive across the state and watch the Mets play the Cardinals and the Indians.

I can hardly wait!
