The AJC is reporting that the Braves have signed J.D. Drew's younger brother, Tim (a RHP), to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. He will also particate in Camp Leo (Mazzone's annual early workouts for pitchers) which begins Monday at Turner Field.
The younger Drew, a former first round draft pick in 1997 by the Indians, was 14-7 two years ago in Triple but struggled last year going 5-9 in the minors and 0-2 with the Expos. He and J.D. are the answers to an often asked trivia question. They are the only two brother selected in the first round of the same draft.
In other Braves' news, Gary Sheffield has been named as the Braves Player of the Year for 2003 by the Atlanta Chapter of the Baseball Writers of America. I wonder if those guys watched the playoffs?
