In order to push the Yankees and A-Rod off the back pages of the newspapers in New York, Mets owner Freddy Coupon has gone out and signed pitcher Randy Keisler to a minor league dael. It was not yet known if Keisler will get his own suite on the road as A-Rod will be getting. :D

NEW YORK -- The Mets added another pitcher on Tuesday, signing Randy Keisler to a minor league deal.
Keisler, however, will not be part of the Major League camp. He will be invited to minor league camp, which is slated to begin March 5, and will have the opportunity to fill out part of the starting staff at Triple-A Norfolk.
The southpaw was 0-1 in two starts for San Diego last season, posting a 12.00 ERA in six innings pitched. He pitched in 14 games, 11 of which were starts, for the Yankees in 2000 and in 2001, going 2-2 with a 7.19 ERA.
His signing brings the number of pitchers general manager Jim Duquette has added in the last two weeks to four. The Mets have invited Scott Erickson, Ricky Bottalico and James Baldwin to Major League camp as non-roster players.
Keisler, 28, missed the 2002 season after having arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder and signed with San Diego last February. He was outrighted on May 29 after making a pair of ineffective starts.
A former second-round pick of the Yankees, Keisler was 7-6 with a 4.13 ERA in 22 Triple-A games last season, pitching for San Diego's affiliate in Portland, Houston's affiliate in New Orleans and Texas' affiliate in Oklahoma.
