I've got a feeling it has something to do with age and hitting 40 home runs. Are they the oldest to hit 40 HRs at their positions?

It has nothing to do with age.

The 40 HR's is a part of it.

Aaron is the only member of the group to do it twice.

Barry Bonds, Matt Williams and Ken Griffey Jr. are also members of the fraternity.

Would those be players who hit 40 HR while driving in less than 100 runs?

WOO!HOO! atta boy rookie (and welcome ) If you like trivia, you'll love it in here.
Aaron and Johnson are the only teammates to do it. There may be a couple more players who have had seasons with 40 HR's and less than 100 RBI, but I didn't find them if there are.
