It seems that the new owners are pretty content with getting rid of Duquette as soon as they can...but there is one problem standing in their way...

They don't have the authority to do it. For Duquette to be fired now, John Harrington would have to do it or grant permission for it to be done.

Harrington and Duquette are pretty tight...I don't think Harrington would allow for him to be fired. But let's hope he does.

Possible replacements being talked about are: Billy Beane from the A's, Brian Sabean from the Giants, and Kevin Towers from the Padres. I even heard a rumor that Al Avilia, the assistant GM of the Flordia Marlins while Henry was in charge could be a possible candidate to take over when/if the Duke is fired.

I'd love to see Beane come to Boston, but it doesn't seem like it will happen. He's still got three years left on his contract. The only way we would be able to get him would be a "trade". We would probably have to send the A's some money and in turn, they would let Beane out of his current contract.

I guess we can forget about Avilia...he signed on with the Pirates today.

How soon can the new owners get the authority to can DD? Do we have to wait until all of the politicians get through with the sale dispute first?

I have no idea...but the latest rumor I heard says the Sox have interest in bringing in Dan's brother, Jim. Good God...not another Duquette! :ohno:
