Adrian Gonzalez -- The first-base prospect adds depth to what is quickly becoming a position of strength for the organization. Gonzalez's development could eventually push Mark Teixeira into the outfield, but the club will likely be content with sending the former first-round pick to Triple-A for a season of polishing.

Nick Regilio -- The hard-throwing right-hander topped out at 97 mph during the Arizona Fall League to earn a spot on the 40-man roster. Questions about the durability of his surgically repaired right shoulder could arise during the course of the season if he has a slow start in Spring Training.

Jason Bourgeois -- The infielder has above-average speed and will be looking to make an impression in his first career big league camp. An effective player in the minors, Bourgeois could make the jump to the big leagues sometime this season because of his versatility.

Gerald Laird -- Laird has not been anointed the catcher of the future, but he could earn the name with a solid Spring Training and strong season in 2004. Laird is an above-average runner and makes the best of his average arm.
