Who was the first National League pitcher since 1900 to pitch a one hitter in his ML Debut?

McDaniel pitched a two hitter, but you're in the right neighborhood with regard to the year in which it happened.

It did not happen in '57 but was within five years of that season. And it was a future HOFer.

Juan Marichal. Catchers always seemed to get in his way, didn't they? Dalrymple, Roseboro...

Darlymple certainly got in his way on July 19, 1960 when he made his ML debut against the Phillies. Although on this day, he did it as a pinch hitter when he broke up Marichal's no hitter with two out in the seventh. But that was the only hit he would give up as he struck out 12 and became the the first NL pitcher of the 20th Century to debut with a one hitter. Way to go TC!:clap2:

Yo, Dale. What do you know about this feat? I know that Jimmy Jones 1-hit the 'Stros in his debut sometime in mid-80s (will look up exact date later). Are he and Marichal the only NL hurlers to do it, or has someone done it since Jones?

Addie Joss did it in the AL over 100 years ago. I think those three are the only one-hitters.
