You will be expected to keep injured players on your roster even if they are out for the year, if you would like to maintain their rights! This is why we may need more DL spots!
Also for next year, we'll see how things go but it seems most people want to limit the number of DL keepers (and or make the requirement to qualify longer). So if at all possible try and keep it to 3 or less, if not there is no punishment. Just keep that in mind as you make trades, don't be trying to get like 5 or 6 dL keepers.
As a suggestion for the DL keeper limit I suggest 1 maybe 2 (with an option to keep more if you're willing to give up your second round draft pick for the first one and your 1st and second for 2 extras) and that way you can keep them but there is risk involved so stacking them isn't definately a great plan.
