i watched the trailer and I think the movie has the potential to ruin my great memories of the comics
the oldschool garfield cartoons on tv were the best. like the one where they go camping

Looks like a cute movie:)
They are also making a Spongebob Squarepants Movie for all of your little kids. I be that will make lots of money since its a huge hit on tv. But i didnt think that the garfield movie looked all that great either

Bill Murray is Garfield?? Oh wow, now I *definitely* have to see it!!!! When does it open?
George, I don't remember hearing about Jim Davis passing away. Yes Charles Schultz did, but I'm sure I would have remembered if Garfield's creator had.

do you by chance remember the one comic where Jon comes home with a load of groceries and Odie and Garfield exchange eating all the groceries while Jon is looking at the other and then it shows Jon being carried out in a straight jacket all crazy eyed saying "Food gone! Food all gone!"
another one Jon is looking at Garfield and asks somthin like "Garfield what are you up to? I know that look." and it shows garfield acting all innocent and as Jon brushes it off garfield turns his back and grins evilly while he says into a walkie-talkie "Release the anvil!"
garfield comics rule!

I'm not going to pay a dime to see Garfield. I refused to see Scooby Doo, which is the GREATEST cartoon ever and was remade so horribly with a bad CGI Scooby and the scrub team of Freddy Prince and Sarah Michelle Gellar sucking it up the whole time. And unless the second one has Creepy Heap from the Deep as one of the monsters that apparently are unleashed, I will continue to boycot these movies until one is done decently.

I love Garfield! I doubt I could get any of my friends to see this with me, though.

Shoot, I can't check out the link here at work (it's blocked)... will have to check it out at home.
Anyway, I got used to Garfield having that other voice in the animated specials so I wonder if I'll like having Bill Murray as his voice. I mean, once a cat gets a certain voice, they shouldn't just change it!

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised, considering I'm starting to hear negative reviews come in... I think I'll pass on it based on what they're saying and now what you're saying.
I'm a big fan of Garfield in general, but no sense wasting my time with a dumb movie; I'll just curl up with one of my Garfield books and enjoy that (don't they always say that "the book is better than the movie"??? )

Even the trailers are boring.
I'll pass, too.
Although I am still sad, I missed Scooby Doo 2 on the big screen.
Looks like a cute movie:)

The movie can't beat the TV specials. They rock!!
Does anyone know if Jim Davis was at all involved with the movie?
