Who am I?

I signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent in 1987. Previously, I played for the Tigers. I was a 6-time all star catcher who hit .286 with 24 HRs abd 82 RBI in 1980. In 1982, I hit 32 homeruns to shatter the AL record for home runs in a season previously held by yogi Berra. I was once a bodyguard for Tina Turner.

hey.. sometimes the questions come easiily. i pout that in there because i found the part about tina turner to be funny. However, dustin, he is not the only all star catcher the tigers hae had. Matt Nokes was also once an all star.

I would hardly call Nokes a flop. Over his career he averaged 24 HRs and 76RBI over 162 games. His career high in SOs was only 70, and that was in his rookie season. He was also a very good defensive catcher. Sure he was not GREAT... but you can't call him a flop either.

Okay, so I dated myself there. I was a catcher back in those days and he was one of my favorites. I still remember watching the 68 World Series, Tigers against the Cards. Mickey Lolich winning 3 games. Mickey Stanley moving from CF to play SS to add some offense to the lineup.
