Twins manager Ron Gardenhire, asked what baseball hall of famer and former Twin Rod Carew, a .334 lifetime hitter, would hit on the Metrodome's new, slow turf: "He was one of the best bunters ever. He would hit .480 playing on this. But he can't run anymore, so make that .230."

Hall of famer Rod Carew figures Twins shortstop Cristian Guzman could raise his batting average by 40 points if he learns to use the Metrodome's new, softer turf to his advantage by bunting.

"He could bunt 25 times for hits," said Carew, a .334 lifetime hitter and former Twin.

Guzman, who bunted for five hits last season, agrees. "I'm working on that; I just need the right situations," said Guzman, who batted .268 last season and is a .264 career hitter.

I think the guys could use that turf to there advantage. They will get more hits and it will slow the ball down instead of rockiting though the infeild.
