Brewers have avoided injury bug
San Francisco - Believe it or not, the Milwaukee Brewers are the only team in the major leagues without at least one player on the disabled list.
Considering the club's long history of crippling injuries to key players, that distinction is a significant achievement that has the Brewers' medical personnel a bit nervous.
"Shhh," assistant trainer Paul Anderson said. "We don't want to talk about it. Let's not jinx it."
The Brewers avoided opening the season with a player on the DL when right-hander Nick Neugebauer, who missed all of last season after shoulder surgery, was able to begin the season on the active roster of Class A High Desert.
"We have to stay healthy," Yost said. "It's exceptionally important to us, even though we've got good depth on the bench.
"You can't just say, 'We're going to stay healthy.' There's some luck involved. There's nothing you can do consciously about it."
Houston was the only other club to begin the season without a player on the DL.
