Billy Koch saw his ERA ballon fron 2.70 to 11.25 with his 9th inning meltdown against the Royals this afternoon, giving up 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning. The key blows were a 2-run game tying shot by Carlos Beltran, and a go-ahead tape measure bomb by Mike Sweeney giving the Royals a 9-8 lead.

Fortunately for us,Royals closer Curtis Leskanic had his own 9th inning meltdown, with a little help from his defense,as the Sox won a wild one 10-9 this afternoon.

Joe Crede was the hero with a game-winning single with no outs in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Sox the win.

I like Koch. I always have. He's one guy I always wished I could see in a Tiger uniform.

His velocity is there,He's just been wild over the plate.I don't know if you saw the homers he gave up to Beltran and Sweeeney. But they were absolute bombs.

Koch said on the Score yesterday that he just flat got beat up out there. He said his location was good, and Beltran just beat him.He tipped his hat to Beltran.

I have a lot of respect for Koch for going on with Mike North after the game yesterday.North is a very sraight forward interviewer, and won't pull any punches, and Koch took all the blame. He was more pissed at himself, but was happy that his teammates bailed him out.

He also stated that there is a different attitude in the clubhouse as opposed to last year.Last year, that team would have quit in the same situation.
