If 6-8 is acceptable after a strenuous scheduling start to the season, then the Brewers must enjoy their first off day and go about the business of winning at home. With 11 consecutive home games, the club MUST stay around the .500 mark. If Ned Yost and his players expect an 81 win season, then the upcoming homestand should be a winning one. Wes Helms and Lyle Overbay are just a few players that will hit very well this year in their back yard. Here's hoping the pitchers feels as comfortable in the "House that You Built."
Finally and most importantly, here are a few of your early season thoughts:
We are really enjoying the Brewers this year -- especially Lyle Overbay and Craig Counsell. We have been and still are big fans of Richie Sexson -- but we're true blue Brewer fans and we're thrilled that Overbay is one of us now. AND his last name is perfect for a Buckethead chant -- O...Ver...Baaaay!! Keep up the good work Lyle, Wisconsin loves ya!

In past years I'd turn on the tube or go to the game expecting a loss just to save myself from the disappointment. These guys walk to the plate with a special swagger, they pick their pitches and they hit to move runners. I haven't seen this in a team since we moved to Miller Park. I don't believe for a second that we are a flash in the pan team. No, we won't win a pennant or the division in '04 and we probably won't even finish at .500 by the end of September because of our ridiculously tough division, but we'll be darn close. This is a group of scrappy fighters and I couldn't be prouder to wear this faded modern Brewers cap.

I think the Brewers can drive teams nuts this year. Taking pitches, getting deep into the counts, hitting to the opposite field, moving runners, steals, solid defense can put pressure on the "big" teams.
