Notebook: McGraw to join Phillies in camp
Phillies Media RelationsFormer Phillies relief pitcher Tug McGraw will serve as a special pitching instructor in Spring Training with the club, working with pitching coach Vern Ruhle and the pitching staff from February 25 through March 5. McGraw, who ranks sixth on baseball's all-time saves list for left-handers with 179 (Mitch Williams is fifth with 192), joins Mike Schmidt as a special Spring Training instructor. "The Tugger," 57, pitched in the majors for 19 seasons (1965-84), his final 10 with the Phillies. He had a career record of 96-92 with a 3.14 ERA in 824 games, was a two-time National League All-Star and went to the post-season seven times, five with the Phillies.
"This is a way to bring back tradition," said Manager Larry Bowa. "Tug has a great knowledge of pitching and will be an asset to Vern and the staff."
PHILLIES TICKET SALES BEGIN MONDAY
This coming Monday, February 4, the Phillies will begin selling individual tickets for the 2002 season at 9:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Phillies Phone Center at (215) 463-1000, in person at the street-level, stadium Advance Ticket Window or online at phillies.com. Modell's Sporting Goods Opening Day is Friday, April 5 at 3:05 p.m. against the Marlins. All fans in attendance will receive Phillies hat. The first homestand of the season, which runs through Sunday afternoon, April 14, will be highlighted by a four-game series with division rival Atlanta Braves (4/8-11) and a Pat Burrell growth chart giveaway (4/14) when the Phillies host the Cincinnati Reds.
SPRING TRAINING DATES TO REMEMBER
The equipment truck leaves for Clearwater on Friday, February 8, which signals the beginning of Spring Training! Pitchers and catchers report the following Friday, February 15 at 10:00 a.m. with full-squad workouts beginning Wednesday, February 20, also at 10:00 a.m.

The broadcast was taped recently in front of a live audience as part of the Phillies Winter Tour stop at the King of Prussia Mall. Subsequent airings will be Sunday, February 17 at 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m.
