Ok, NFL fans. Who do you think the Lions should select with the sixth pick in the draft?

I voted for Taylor.

I voted none of the above, because none of them are major need positions, and we really can't spend #6 money on a guy who's not going to be a major contributor.

Well, then tell us who you do want.

I would go for Kellen Winslow Jr. He is the man!
He can help produce solid offense for the Lions which they really need.
It might make things easier for Joey Harrington, who knows?

If Roy Williams is there at number 6 then you have to draft him. HAVE TO. But with the new rulings on the draft I think he is gone in the top 4 picks. But if he is there you have to take him to be there with Rodgers and if Rodgers cant play also.
But if he is gone and I have to agree with Kiwideus. You have to take Winslow. He is a A-hole and a punk but the guy can play and I feel that the Tight End is one of the most valveble positions on offense. Get a guy with great hands and he will get the first downs for you and go in the middle and let your big WR guys just do down the field and play there game every down and let the TE do the dirty work that needs to get done.

But they really have more pressing needs than receiver. They still have Charles Rogers, Tai Streets, Az Hakim, and Scotty Anderson. They need to trade down, and if they can get the Pats 2 first rounders, they need to get one of those Miami linebackers, and one of those 3 guards who are all great run blockers. I like Chris Snee, or Justin Smiley.

I think the Pats have targeted Smiley. :)
Bill said in an interview, "If he had the first pick overall", he would pick Gallery. Too bad he'll be gone within the first 5 picks. I believe that Washington will pick him, they need all the OL help they can get.

I took Taylor, but I can also make a case for all three. I just like Taylor a bit more than the other two. Taylor's not only a hitter, but a playmaker on defense. He's played in a quality program and in big games. All qualities I like.
Winslow is interesting because I think he's half TE, half WR. At worst, he will create space for others to roam in. Williams would make a terrific partner to Rogers.
Tigers#1, I think all three would be MAJOR contributors to this team on Opening Day. All three might be the best players at their positions on the team by season's end. The Lions need playmakers. I think all three would be that.
I say take the best player(s). Don't cram a "need" into a slot too high. If all these teams are looking to move up to grab one of these three, why on Earth should the Lions' move down?
Today's rumor is that the Lions and Jags may swap spots. My fear is that the Lions will bite, wait for Stephen Jackson at nine only to find someone else take him ahead of them. That would mean they would lose out on Taylor, Winslow, Williams and Jackson. That's not good, although it is typical Lions.

YES...We got ROY WILLIAMS...Him and a healthy Rogers, and if Harrington steps up...AND we get a decent running back...The Lions will be awesome this year :-))))
(Very glad they didn't end up having to take Kellen "GI Joe" Winslow Jr.)

Williams is a nice pick. Not my favorite, as I thought he disappeared in big games, but he's got the tools to be great. Getting the Browns to cough up an extra second round choice just to move up one spot was brilliant. I doubt many thought Williams would have been available at seven.
I'm not a huge Kevin Jones fan, but he's definitely an upgrade at that position. I thought a second, fourth and fifth (in 2005) was a bit much to move up. I'm more than willing to give Jones the benefit of doubt. Teddy Lehman, although I love OU, was a bit of a reach in the second round, imo. I hope I am wrong, though. He will instantly become one of my favorite Lions regardless.
I felt the Lions could have stayed with their two second round choices and gotten some value in Bob Sanders (S, Iowa) or Tatum Bell (RB, Ok. ST) or Julius Jones (RB, ND), etc... Moving back into the first round cost them some cap dollars and a fourth rounder.
That said, the first three picks should all be starters, imo. It's hard not to embrace that. Overall, I give day one a B+. I'm looking forward to seeing the remodeled Lions come fall.

The Lions had the best draft IMO. Great job!
Glad you avoided that punk ass Winslow who only scored an 11 on the Wonderlick. Dude is dumber than a bucket of hair.

I'm so glad we didn't take Winslow. He would of been nothing but problems, and there's already talk he's going to holdout. And Williams is very mature, and reminds me a lot of Herman Moore, on and off the feild.
BTW PP, why'd the Pat's take another tight end in the first round?
As for Kevin Jones, he's arguably the best back in the draft, and all we really gave up for him was a 4th and 5th rounder, because that 2nd rounder we got for nothing.

I think with the addition of Dillon, the Pats are gonna go with a lot of 2 TE sets.

Great pick for the Lions!!!!!! I think we are going to see football like we are used to in the Black and Blue.....
I see some good time trash talking this season with the fans of the black and blue!!!! I love what the Vikings did to in the draft. Some good football we are going to watch!!!!

Was that Winslow actually score? 11?!?!
I hope Jones is the best back in the draft. Don't misunderstand, I'm just nitpicking from a techinical standpoint. I loved the Lions' draft. They should have gained three starters.

It was Trots. 11 That is defined as BELOW the moron level.
They printed the scores of the first round draft picks in the Globe. Some guy got an 8.
