Lidge is a fickin' white flame right now. He's so hot, catchers are having to carry mini fire extinguishers with them to douse the flames on their mitts.

Lidge is so hot, several Rockies fans mistook him for the rising sun at last night's game ... Several galaxies have submitted bids for Lidge to come be their dominant star ... Brad is as hot as the Edsel was not ... What's the difference between Lidge and a curling iron on HIGH? Lidge produces better "holds" even in humid weather ... I'm walking down the street last night and my neighbor hollers out to me, "Hey, I heard there was a fire at Coors Field last night." I answer, "Naw, it was just Brad pitching for the Astros." ... Scientists at leading universities now agree they all had it wrong about the ozone effect and now concur that the warming trend the earth is enduring presently is due primarily to Brad Lidge becoming a genuine MLB star.

Ok, enough already :hmm:

Lidge faced four Colorado batters last night and struck 'em all out, including all three in the 9th who went down swinging ... Kinda' weird stat was he threw 21 pitches (probably keeps him out of Saturday's bullpen), with a bit of a mediocre K:BB pitch ratio (13 strikes, 8 balls) ... Sure glad he's on my team.

:hail: 54

Bradley is a fine product from Colorado - you know, that place that cranks out pitchers like Carter cranks out pills? :D

I do hope he pitches today - I'll try to get y'all some good pics at the game - can't have enough of those!

Cool, you're going to the game! I'd rather see photos of some of the more voluptuous Rockies fans in attendance to be quite honest and somewhat depraved, but shots of Lidge will do, I guess ... A goofy one of Jimy would be alright as well

:wave1: Welcome H-Town, always good to have another Astro fan aboard. I think the only question about him living up to his potential was "would he ever stay healthy?" He's healthy and he's something else. One of the best sliders I've ever seen.

Typical, you talk a player up then he goes out and gets torched in the series finalé :hmm: I think I've already jinxed Redding and Ainsworth this year, now maybe Lidge :(

Let me guess, you were talking about Willis, too, somewhere, weren't you? I turn on ESPN last night just in time to catch him giving up his first ER of the season on a gopher ball to DeRosa.

I've got an idea for you. Go over to the Cubs forum and talk up their starters, pretty-please. And if I catch you breathing word one about the Rocket being the first 4-game winner...never mind, I won't have to do anything......

H Town,

Let me offer you a belated welcome (since I'm supposed to be in charge around here) :) We love getting new blood in here, so feel free to keep coming back. :wave1:

Where are my manners?

Howdy! I like Lidge, too. In our house, we call him "Lidge the Fridge" for his effect on opponents' bats. You'll notice he's in my avatar. He's Four of Six (yes, I call them that--see Kirk Saarloos' page on baseball-reference.com (http://www.baseball-reference.com/s/saarlki01.shtml)--but then I'm known to be weird).

LOL, I always laugh when someone tells me howdy. I have been born and raised in Houston but it's still kinda strange for me to hear it. I have an Astros buddy that I went to Chicago with and he said howdy over there and they gave him the strangest look. Since then when I hear howdy it makes me think of that and I always chuckle a little bit.

How cool was that, watching Bradley load the bases and strike out 4 batters in the 7th inning today!? Talk about guttin' it through his 2nd inning of relief today!

My, oh my! Folks, this is why he's my favorite pitcher on our roster. I'm not getting on the Lidge-for-closer bandwagon, but oooh, I love to watch him work. Unfortunately, he won't be working tomorrow after that two-inning job today. 6K in 2IP. So I'll be content watching Rocket do the pink bunny thing. ;) I'll also be at Wednesday's and Friday's games.

He joins Mike Scott and Octavio Dotel as the only Houston pitchers to accomplish this.

I forgot about Saturday's game! I'll be there, too. 418, row 11, 1-5 with all the kids who are home, as it's an Astros Buddies game AND the 15yo is an Angels fan (she'll be wearing her K-Rod jersey). Stop on up and say, "Hi," why don't ya.

Roger-Willco, Annie  I'm trying to see if Darrell from Astros Daily might be going to that game as well ... I'd tell you just to look for the big ol' corn-fed boy in the crazy print shirt down in the Crawfish Boxes, but then that would describe about half the section

Joe struck out 5 in a spring training game. I believe Cliff Johnson was the catcher.

Does anyone know why Jimy wont let Lidge close the game instead of Dotel? I think he should at least give it a try a couple of games.

I wonder if he has any desire to eventually pitch at home for the Rox? :notme: I hope not for Houston's sake, but I never fault a guy for wanting to pitch in front of his hometown crowds or who wants to pitch for the team he grew up rooting for.

Atkins just knew it was a strikeout, too. He just stood there and hung his head, even before the ump indicated.

Brad Lidge during the final week of the regular season:
4 Games
4 Saves
4.2 IP
0 Hits
0 Runs
0 ER
1 BB
10 K

Of the 14 outs he was asked to get in must-win situations for the Astros all week, he got 10 of them via the strikeout!
