What is the craziest thing you ever did to get out of work early?

I'm sure there are some good ones out there.

I'll start it with me,in 1999.It was Kentucky Derby day,and I had to work that Saturday all day.I woke up that morning with a premonition that Charismatic,at 20-1 was giong to be a lock to win.I wanted to leave work early and tried to think of something,so I called my sister from work, and told her to call my work and say that there was a family emergency and that i should leave right away. She did call, and with my great acting ability,i got to leave work, and made a beeline to the nearest OTB.

I layed $2 on Charismatic, and came home that night with $200.

My boss at work never knew what happened.I just told them that my mother got real sick and I had to take her to the Emergency Room.

I've called in for lots of reasons over the years, but the first to come to mind was in 1986. A buddy of mine and I went to Houston to see a game in the Dome. Mike Scott was pitching and what a year he was having. Anyway I called in and told my supervisor that I had an appointment with a Dr. Scott because I had a split finger.

I haven't worked since June of 2000. Woo hoo! Retirement rules. I never really blew off work early but I do recall having to call in because I was in a car accident and my boss complained! Whiplash or not I ended up going in an hour later and gave him a piece of my mind.

my last day of work at one job was supposed to be the day before Easter. Being I went home for the holiday and was hours away from work I could not make it. I set my alarm for 8 AM, as soon as it went off I hit the speed dial on my cell, called in sick, my boss was like "Sick huh?" I was like ya, I can't make it in at all. Clicked off the phone, tossed it to the side, and fell asleep for a few more hours. can you tell the remorse?

I've used them all. Tomorrow, being that I have tix to a day game, I'm gonna pull the old, HEY, I have sweet tix for the game, I'm leaving early.

This is acceptable at my job, since my boss is a huge sports fan.
