you guys ever move far away, or think about it? why did you/didn't you go?
a friend of mine asked me to move to florida with her. my first thought... hell no! MY HAIR! i'd have a freakin' fro :fro: plus, i don't wanna leave home again... i missed my family and friends while at school. but then she went to rent.com and we spent an hr looking at some of the most gorgeous apparents, all of them huge, new, and in an awesome area, all for less then what i pay for my 1 bedroom, tiny ass place. hell, there was this big ass 4 bedroom place for less than i pay :eviltongu the more and more i thought about it, the more i wanna go! i have no ties to ny at the moment, no career going, just broke up with the bf last friday, my lease is up in a couple months... it's the perfect time to go for a year or two... the experience alone would be so great!
i'm not sure if she's serious, but if she is, i would totally consider it... i hate her for putting such thoughts in my head! :notme:

I think about moving every day of my life. I've lived in nine states but if I ever move again it will be to Tuscany or somewhere in Japan.

I think about it all the time. I want to get up to the best place in the world to the great Black Hills of South Dakota. You have some great mountains there and then the grasslands and a nice place to live. I would want to live in some small cabin in the backwoods though...

we don't know... neither of us know florida, so we were just looking at all the bigger places. we haven't really thought anything about it, she just threw it at me yesterday. where are you? any suggestions for us?

Well obviously I would suggest you move close to moi;)
I actually live in Kissimmee, a pretty good size city which is right next to Orlando, one of the bigger cities in Florida....
I am right near Disney, Universal, Sea World, etc....
Some good prices on apts. and houses here and lots of jobs available....

I'M SO MISERABLE with life as it is right now (except my apt... my precious wonderful cozy peaceful apt  )
I'D LOVE TO MOVE. :(
is there a place in the world where the pace is more human and the weather is gorgeous and the beach is near and you can surf and people are open-minded and laid-back and everyone's into healthy stuff and getting up early and doing yoga and jogging and you can walk everywhere (i hate cars) and you're surrounded by nature and the thinking is progressive?? is there a place like that?? does anyone know?? :( i wanna move there. i was thinking somewhere-california....... yeah i know it's mad expensive but if i marry some rich guy then maybe i can make it happen......... i feel burnt out, i'm sick of this ny-pace (i'm talking about WORK specifically, i don't really have a problem with anything else--crowds, noise, tourists)
i'm tired. and i'm done with the rat race. :(

Simple answer: no.
:)
Seriously, if you want ALL that, I doubt you'll find it... at least one of those items will be missing from the place you move to. Not trying to bring you down, just trying to make you focus on which of those traits are most important to you. Then, remove the remaining ones and THEN you'll find the perfect place for you!

Sounds to me like what you need is a new career more than a new place to live... have you thought about that? Seriously, lots of people give up their current careers and follow a new path. One guy at work used to be a car mechanic... was a mechanic for over 10 years. Finally, he decided he had had enough. He took some computer classes... and now he sits a couple of cubicles away from me earning a programmer's salary and having a rather cushy job in an air-conditioned building (and his hands don't get greasy anymore :) )
Just something to think about...

city, that's exactly what i'm doing now....looking for something, anything that's not ridiculously stressful (i swear, i'm not asking for much) the past few months i've worked like 4 jobs in 4 different industries (fortunately i have some connections and was able to "try" different positions).... i was shocked to find they all have ONE thing in common--here in this city, it all has to be done NOW. rush rush rush. stress stress stress. don't leave the office til it all gets done. plans with the family/friends? oops sorry. gotta get the work done first. it is SO STRESSFUL working & living here in the city. there is no way around that. i'm only beginning to understand the phrase "if you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere." OH, that's what that meant. there is so much pressure. you get on the subway and you FEEL it. you get on the bagel line and you FEEL it. people get pissed if God forbid you take 1.3 seconds to decide what type of cream cheese you want on your bagel. it's just so intense here, you always have to rush.
EVEN YOGA CLASS here is intense! people RUSH to yoga class and are edgy/impatient in line, waiting to pay for class. then in class they are frustrated and annoyed if class starts 2 minutes late cuz they gotta get outta there immediately after class cuz they're rushing to go somewhere else. :dog: i visited california for the first time 2 years ago and checked out a couple yoga classes there..... OMG! it was the REAL THING! meaning peaceful, relaxing, healing i couldn't believe.... i compared it with nyc yoga and started to laugh.. it's like saying Peaceful Ultimate Fighting :rotf:
i feel really jaded. this is SO not me. i have had a passionate love affair with this city my entire adult life...actually, i think it started when i was 16/17? (i'd take the train in and take dance classes at the alvin ailey school) BUT for some reason, i'm not into it anymore... i think my soul is craving nature and peace...a much SLOWer pace.... hmm maybe i'm just getting older cuz you'd NEVER hear me say this before :D (i think they came up with the term Type A personality to describe me;):D)
sorry i'm just venting. *sigh* i'll get through this somehow..... just not happy with my work situation and can't seem to find something that's *normal* :( and i hate being stressed about whether or not i'll be able to pay my rent/bills etc. ooooh that kind of stress ALWAYS puts me in the foulest of moods
i have a date with my little sister Bria today (Big Bro Big Sis organization)...we're gonna go see Johnson Family Vacation :) maybe this'll cheer me up.....
:sigh:

I totally agree. There is no such thing as nirvana. Every other place has "issues" just different than you have in your current location.
And beleive me I've been trying to marry rich. They aren't easy to come by. ;)

When I was unemployed, I was seriously considering moving to South Florida to be near my parents. I also have a cousin down there, and two aunts, and some business associates, plus I know the general area quite well.
But after a while I realized that i just can't leave New York.
Farin, I remember how upset you were when your family moved to Pennsylvania, because you loved Brooklyn so much. Now that you're back, you're thinking about leaving again?? Nah, you'd miss it too much.

who knows, maybe i did write this for you... and many others. i've been talking to some friends about this, and there are so many ppl who are bored with their lives and wants a change!
all i need is money and to learn to drive, and i'm out! i've been seriously thinking about it... imma save my money, learn to drive, and if i'm single next year, i'm leaving.
it'll only be for a year robin, i can live w/o ny for that long, did it when i was in school afterall :hmm: i'm just so tired of life here... i'm in a major rut and i've always wanted to see what it was like outside of here, and once i'm in a major relationship and have a job i love, i'm neva going anywhere... young and alone is the best time to go :wave1:
