View Full Version : Eligible DL List

I spent a lot of hours going through a lot of names and came up with a list of guys that are qualified as DL's as I understand the rule. I caution that I didn't punch in everyones name and I may have either overlooked or miscounted days or... but at least it is some kind of guide. If you think there are errors/omissions post a reply so at least we can all be working off the same page. I'll edit as anything new is found that I may have screwed up on. By the way this is an unofficial list right now.

I'll put him on the list for now but I was told that the rule was 30+ days. He has exactly 30 days and missed some days at the end of the season. May need a ruling on this because other players may qualify as well at right on 30 days.

i was told 30 days by both smelly and nate
Michlee60

either way, he was on the dl from 7/14 to 8/17... That is 30+ days anyway.

You may want to update your team thread as you have Wolf as a keeper-DL
Take a look at Matt Williams, Tom Gordon, and David Ortiz - in reading throgh their season information, all three should easily qualify.
KingFish
02-03-2002, 05:02 AM
Matt Williams is already on the list.
Tom Gordon will be added.
Dave Ortiz does not qualify.

Confirmed that both qualify as DL's
Yes he does.

Also, please check out Red Sox picther Frank Castillo.
"06/29/01 placed on 15-day DL
07/28/01 sent to minors for rehabilitation
08/08/01 removed from 15-day DL"

So what does Ankiel qualify as??
Rookie keeper???
KingFish
02-03-2002, 04:42 PM
He qualifies as one wild ass young thrower that may never learn how to pitch as well as he can hit. But that's just one man's opinion.

Only way to keep him is as one of your 6 regular keepers, He is not a rookie (he pitched in 98, 99,and 00 at least for 1 game so that gives him 3 years by our definition) and he is not DLed, and mentally does not count.....So either make room in that 6 or wait til the second round of the draft and take him.......your choice.....

02-04-2002, 01:53 AM
Well he was considered a rookie in 2000 cause he didn't pitch enough games in "99" by MLB standards to qualify in "99"..
Not that I will keep him,but I am curious, pitching in only 6 games qualifies him as in his 3rd year now????
I am just wondering so I know all my options.....

Per league rules 6 games is 6 too many, no matter how many games it is 2 years or less....Look at shawn he has macias who had a whopping 4 atbats in 99 and he can't keep him.....So if you want him, you just got to keep him straight up....

Kingfish, or anybody else who might have this answer....Is Al Leiter DL eligible, he missed a month because of elbow problems, but was it a 30 day month or not is the question...little help here please.....

It looks like he went on the 15 day DL on 4/26 and was activated and pitched on 5/18. Looks to be a few days short of a full month to me.:ohno:

Thanks fish, I am not sure, I do remember him missing a good bit of time in one stretch but some reason or another the Mets didn't DL him, one of those Day To Day deals...thanks for finding the days for me though, still a keeper...;)

Ben Petrick........Thanks Razzle
KingFish
02-17-2002, 03:15 PM
Neugenbauer is pretty clear cut with his DL ending up in season ending surgery and he has been added to the DL list.
Petrick is a different story. He was placed on the 15 day DL and from there went to a minor league rehab. He was recalled exactly one month to the day from the time he went on the DL, 8/2 to 9/2. I am not clear if this actually qualifies him to be added to the 30+ day DL list as he was only on the a 15 day DL and then a rehab assignment.
Need guidance from the leadership for a ruling on this one before adding.
Rotogeek
02-17-2002, 03:37 PM
Add Ben Petrick to the list 8/2 - 9/1
Rotogeek
02-17-2002, 03:38 PM
All DL-list activations usually involve minor league rehab. During the 8/2-9/1 time period he was officially on the major league DL.
No real issue here.
TheSmellyCat

The 1 month is meant as 30 days... as it was to represent at least 2 15 day DL stints, one extended 15 day DL stint or a 60 day DL stint.
So clearly 30 days in one stint is the same as 2 15 days (equalling 30)
From the way it was stated it when the rules were made (and the purpose behind that being the number) he appears to qualify as long as its 30 days.

Jaret Wright did have 30+ days but he does not appear on anyones roster. Jamey Wright on your team does not qualify!
I do beleive I have him... I drafted him on my team when he was coming off the surgery and kept him on the dl for a while... and when it appeared he was out for the season I dropped him into free agency.
KingFish
02-19-2002, 08:04 PM
Your roster says Jamey Wright not Jaret though. Maybe take it up with the keeper of the rosters.

then he would no longer be on your roster...
I beleived that also, but I remember last year, I picked up Kris Benson after he was dropped and everyone knew he'd be out for the year. Smellycats told me the next day that I would not be able keep him as a dl keeper... only the team who drafted or traded for him would be able to keep him. The same rule that allowed me to keep D'Amico, Thomas, Leiberthal and Mo Vaughn.
It doesn't make much sense to me either but that's what Smelly told me.
usc2002
02-20-2002, 12:11 AM
Yep this is true, just because we did not have enough DL spots....Amag lost a tremendous amount of players.....It was determined he could drop them and still be allowed to keep them....This was just a result of a lack of DL spots.....which is why it needs to be expanded......
Michlee60
02-20-2002, 12:40 AM
Im lost on this...? What? If you dropped a player because you didnt have room for him on your DL spots you still get to keep them? someone explain because that makes no sense to me...
TheSmellyCat
02-20-2002, 04:48 PM
it wasn't like that. Because we decided to make this a keeper league half way through, all the players OUT FOR THE YEAR that were dropped were allowed to be kept by the team that drafted/traded for them (Mo Vaughn, Mike Lieberthal, Frank Thomas etc...) This was to avoid a mad dash for these players in the waiver wire, preventing teams from stacking themselves and allowing the teams who were screwed by injuries to keep their players.
Hope that make more sense... it wasn't like oh he's out for a month and waived him so I get to keep him... it wasn't like that at all.
