Saw it this evening and really enjoyed it...
Nan, you were right, one of the best scenes was the scene with Pitt and O'Toole:thumbsup:
Also really liked the fight scene between Achilles (Brad Pitt) and Hector (Eric Bana)
I was also totally in love with Diane Kruger who played Helen:lust:

Long but very good movie....
Definitely looks worth seeing. I'll be going sooner than later. Also, it features the great Scottish actor Brian Cox. Can I assume his role in the movie is pretty limited?

Wow! You saw it already, James!? :clap2:
Isn't that Priam/Achilles scene just a killer? :crying2:
I liked the fight between Achilles and Hector as well. There have been so many movies lately with huge army/battle scenes I've kind of overdosed on them....... the one-on-one stuff was great.
Dan, Brian Cox was fantastic! King of all Greece suits him. :D Sean Bean was outstanding too....... He plays Odysseus. I really liked Eric Bana as Hector, too.
 Good movie! (It's gonna make heaps of money! )

Hmmmmm, all the reviews I've heard say this movie is complete bollocks. The CGI animation is over done and very poor, the writing is terrible (apart from the O Toole scene) and Brad Pitt seems grossly out of place.
I hear you Nanner when you say that all this army/battle scene stuff has been overused of late, it's getting too much.
Well, I haven't seen it but I do have a sneaky feeling this is a dodgy one.

I've heard bad things about the movie. not that that really affects me all that much, but still. Not to mention brad pitt just does not do it for me really.
I'll still probably catch it. just have to find time for it.

I liked it too. It's just entertaining. Sort of the kind of movie where you don't have to think too much, just sit back and, (if you're a gal), admire Brad's legs and arms..... (and butt, in some scenes..... ) and, if you're a guy, just gaze at Diane What's-Her-Name. She's Helen of Troy, for God's sake......supposed to be the most beautiful woman in history. :D
If you're supposed to be doing a report on Homer's "The Illiad", don't go to the movie and think you've done your homework....... it's definitely a scaled-down version of the Trojan War.
But as entertainment......... I certainly was entertained! :D

Well said!!
Some of the story was changed a bit as well....
I just got back from the movie theatre and LOVED it. Me being Greek I felt bad...lol, but it was an awesome movie. I think that Bana, Pitt, and Bloome all played good. I forgot who played Hector's father but he was awesome too. I loved the first fight at the very beginning. Once I saw that I knew the movie was going to be good. One thing though is, if you dont understand mythology you might not understand the movie. One thing though, for the people who saw it. Who in your opinion was the bad/good guys? I mean they took Helen away without permission, but he loved her. You can sort of see it in a different point of view. Anyways the movie was great and I definetely recommend it to anyone who likes these type of movies... Oh and Diane Kruger is HOT!

Um..... that would be Peter O'Toole, one of the finest and most respected actors around. :laff:

Definitely think, IMO, the Greeks were portrayed as the bad guys. That Agamemnon, man....... wanting to take over the world........
