FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) - The New York Mets on Thursday placed lefthander Al Leiter on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his pitching shoulder.

The move is retroactive to May 12, the day after Leiter gave up five runs and three hits with five walks through four innings in a loss at Arizona.

Leiter is 1-2 with a 2.52 ERA in seven starts this season.

The Mets purchased the contract of Esix Snead from Class AAA Norfolk to take Leiter's roster spot. Snead had a .275 batting average with six RBI and eight stolen bases in 20 games with the Tides.

:( Poor Al. :(

But I do like Esix Snead. His speed. His enthusiasm. Let's see if he's learned to hit yet!

But would Jeff Duncan have been a better choice, with Cameron out for the moment? Jeff also is fast and enthusiastic. And cute!

:( Bummer. Poor Al. :(

Just out of curiosity...... how many times has he been on the DL?

That's too bad, the Metsies are gonna miss him for sure.

BTW, wasn't he leading the NL in ERA up until a few days ago?
