MINNEAPOLIS -- With an injury that carries this name, you almost feel like you need a medical degree to say it.
Plantar fasciitis: a tissue inflammation that causes pain in the arch of the foot.

Twins left fielder Shannon Stewart doesn't need a degree to say it -- he's been living with it. The injury to his right foot forced Stewart to be placed on the 15-day disabled list -- retroactive to Tuesday -- after Thursday's game vs. the Chicago White Sox.

Plantar faciitis has mysteriously taken its toll on a number of Twin Cities professional athletes over the years. Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss, Timberwolves forward Wally Szczerbiak, former Twins outfielder Marty Cordova and even Twins general manager Terry Ryan have dealt with it.
