Another great Mets win! WOOHOO!!!

I went to the game with Kat (Sheafaithful) and, as always, had a great time! (always helps when the Mets win! )

Not only that, but I was trying out my new digital SLR camera (I wasn't kidding in that other thread when I said I bought the camera instead of the omelet! ) So check out these pics; I'm quite impressed with what I can do with this camera, especially that I can zoom in so much and still have really sharp images.

Kat & I started off in the Mezz section just to the left of home plate. Then we moved after the 6th inning to the first base side. Just telling you that so the pics make sense! :D

First pic is of me and Kat; the others are of various shots around Shea & of the scoreboard...

cyn, a friend of mine just got an Olympus with a zoom (I'm not sure of the pixel but it's gotta be at least a 4 mega pixel and I'm not sure what the memory card holds-maybe 100) for around $250. NICE Camera.
He got a pretty good deal.
I told him to help me when I go shop, I'll need one for Aruba

Thanks, everyone!

Here's another pic of Kat... I didn't originally include it since Kat came out rather dark in the shadows, but what the heck... :) (obviously, I forgot to use the flash!)

She was coming up the stairs with a piña colada and Entennman's chocolate chip cookies and I totally caught her off guard with the picture (hee hee :D ). What can I say, I was rather trigger-happy, testing out the new camera! (oh, and don't tell her, but when she stepped away for a bit, I stole one of the cookies! ;) )

Before I answer your question, just thought I'd show off a bit more of my camera! (just like a proud father! )

Below, I've attached three of the images I already posted... only this time, they're at ORIGINAL size! (I've included only a very small piece of each image, otherwise, they'd be HUGE!)

Notice, for example, in 3220Crowd_OrigSize.jpg, the woman with the orange jacket and cap in the center... now go back and look at the same image I posted before... notice how small she is in THAT picture! (in that picture, she's on the left-hand side of the picture...)

Pretty amazing, huh?

OK, Cyn, here's the info you wanted:

The camera I just bought is quite expensive... it's the Canon 10D... 6.3 megapixel... since it's an SLR, it comes with no lens (you heard that right!). You have to buy a lens, which for a decent one, will cost around $350 (that's just for the lens... ) Still interested??? :D So, with body and lens... well, let's just say that with the money needed to buy this camera, you could've bought yourself two of those very expensive omelets mentioned in the other thread! Since I'm big into photography, I finally took the plunge and got it. But it IS a big investment...

I'm guessing you're not looking for something quite that expensive. Frankly, I'd recommend you work backwards: think how much you'd feel comfortable spending and get the best camera you can for that money.

$250 is a good starting point. 4 megapixels is also enough for your needs. With 4 mega, you can definitely get excellent 4x6 prints made that look pretty much as good as film (most people can't tell the difference). As you look around, if you see something you like for a bit more (like, $300), you'll have to decide if it's worth it for you.

I've always been happy with Canon. The Olympus brand (as mentioned by Piazza'sbabe) is also really good.

Oh, the other thing to consider: the camera's size. I still enjoy carrying my smaller digital camera (the one you saw when I went to the game a few weeks back) since it's so small. That makes a big difference. Obviously, the smaller the camera, the easier it is to carry around! (My new big SLR takes AMAZING pictures, but it is a nuisance to carry it around everywhere, so I won't!)

The pictures came out awesome! Thanks for sharing 'em! :)

I love the new scoreboard at Shea. I'm hoping I can make it back to NY this summer to get to some games!

Where does one get pina coladas and Entennman's chocolate chip cookies at Shea these days?? I haven't done much wandering around the stadium to see what;s new.

Chuck, great photos

Robin, to answer your question as to where you can get Entennman's chocolate chip cookies and where you can get a pina colada. They sell the Entennman's chocolate chip cookies at most stands around Shea, but it would be best if you brought it from home. It will cost you alot less, $.99 as compared to the $3.75 that Shea charges. As for the pina coladas, there are portable stands on the field level, loge level and the mezz level that serve pina coladas and other exotix drinks.

Thanks! :)

As for you being slightly jealous: you all should've seen when Kat and I did a comparison of our respective lenses: the HUGE (3-inch diameter) lens on my camera and her microscopic (< .5 mm) lens on her cellphone!

But, in fairness to Kat, HER "camera" is very mobile, mine isn't!
