Minnesota cracked the scoreboard in the third inning on Morneau's solo home run for a 1-0 lead.

Tampa Bay evened up the contest in the fourth inning on an RBI by Lugo. Martinez doubled to start the frame and advanced to third on Jose Cruz Jr.'s single. Lugo then lifted a sac fly to right that scored Martinez, making it 1-1.
