Raiders head coach Norv Turner said in a conference call on Tuesday that Rich Gannon is still the team's starting quarterback, even after the signing of Kerry Collins. There has been speculation that Gannon would be released after June 1, but that appears not to be the case.

It appears that Jeremy Shockey will undergo surgery on his troublesome right foot and probably will miss the first couple of weeks of training camp, according to the New York Daily News. "The dangerous thing about that is if I don't get it fixed, (the injury) probably won't occur in training camp, but it'll probably occur in Week 6 or Week 7," Shockey said. "And I don't want to miss any of the season so I might as well get it done now."

The Patriots signed Tedy Bruschi to a four-year contract extension yesterday, according to the Boston Globe. He was entering the final year of his former deal.

Ben Watson (TE) NE
Rookie tight end Ben Watson has been wearing a protective boot to help aid the healing of a strained Achilles tendon, though the injury is not believe to be serious, according to the Boston Globe.

Jason Gildon (LB) Pit
Jason Gildon will meet with the Bengals today, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The free agent has already met with the Bills and Packers and may also visit Chicago.

Javin Hunter (WR) Bal
The Ravens have decided that the best chance for Javin Hunter to make the team is not as a wide receiver, but as a reserve cornerback and kickoff return specialist, according to the Baltimore Sun. "The defensive backfield coaches wanted to take a look at him," coach Brian Billick said. "Javin's got that type of speed and ability. We're going to give it a couple of days, then discuss it. We'll come back in camp and see what he wants to do with it."

Steve McNair (QB) Ten
Steve McNair took part in his first full practice yesterday since undergoing ankle surgery, according to the Tennessean. "It felt good," said McNair, who underwent arthroscopic surgery on the ankle in February. "I still want to take it slow. We wanted to go out there and at least try and push it a little bit and see how my foot was going to be."

Adewale Ogunleye (DE) Mia
The Dolphins lowered their one-year offer to Adewale Ogunleye by over $1 million yesterday and it looks more and more like he will not be taking part in training camp, according to the Miami Herald. He may even continue his holdout through the first seven games of the season. The Dolphins could suspend him for three games and he will need to play in at least six games to become a free agent in 2005.

Eddie George hasn't taken part in minicamps because he's still recovering from knee and ankle surgery, but he said he doesn't think it will affect his performance this season, according to the Tennessean. Still, it seems likely that his conditioning will be affected by not practicing during the summer.

The Rams released Shane Walton on Friday.

Bernard Holsey (DT) StL
The Rams signed Bernard Holsey to a one-year deal on Friday, according to the AP. He started all 16 games for the Redskins last season, recording 41 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Eric Kelly (DB) Min
Eric Kelly was released by the Vikings on Friday after failing to report for the final week of offseason workouts and asking for his release, according to the AP. He was projected to be Minnesota's fourth cornerback.

Jeremy Shockey (TE) NYG
Jeremy Shockey was still consulting with doctors about whether he should undergo surgery on his injured foot, according to the New York Daily News. If he has the procedure, it would likely be performed on Monday and would force him to miss at least the first two weeks of training camp.

Eric Crouch (WR) GB
Eric Crouch worked out at safety for the Chiefs yesterday, according to the KC Star. "He's a gifted athlete,” Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil said. “He's made up his mind that he wants to be a football player, not a quarterback, so we thought we'd bring him in and take a look.”

Corey Fuller is expected to switch to safety this season, according to the Baltimore Sun. Most likely, he will be the primary backup at both safety spots, but the former cornerback will have a chance to beat out Will Demps to start.

Marcel Shipp (RB) ARZ
Marcel Shipp has lost his job as the Cardinals No. 1 running back as head coach Dennis Green has annoined Emmitt Smith to that position, according to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli. Green gave no reasons as to why he made the move.

Cardinals head coach Dennis Green has promoted Emmitt Smith to the No. 1 tailback position heading into training camp. Marcel Shipp is now No. 2 on the depth chart. "I think as we try to counter punch teams and beat them over the top with big plays, we need a back who is really good at finding seams and getting up in the seams and I think [Smith] fits perfectly in our three wide receiver role," said Green.

Jeremy Shockey underwent surgery on his right foot yesterday and is expected to miss at least the first two weeks of training camp, according to the New York Post. A screw was inserted into the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in the hopes it will repair the nagging problem with the bone.

Michael Pittman has been suspended for three games by the NFL as a result of his domestic abuse conviction stemming from an incident last year, according to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli.

The Bergen Record reports that the Jets are interested in free agent tight end Mikhael Ricks. Ricks played one season under current Jets offensive coordinator Paul Hackett in Kansas City.

Prosecutors in Miami dropped the final charge against Ty Law and he will face no further legal proceedings stemming from an incident where he led police on a brief foot chase.

Keenan McCardell (WR) TB
Keenan McCardell skipped all 14 "voluntary" practices with the Bucs this offseason and intends to skip a mandatory three-day minicamp that begins today, according to the St. Petersburg Times. McCardell is looking for a new contract that will pay him like a No. 1 receiver.

Bo Schobel (DE) Ten
Titans rookie defensive end Bo Schobel will undergo surgery to repair a foot injury that is virtually the same as the one suffered by Jevon Kearse, according to the Nashville Tennessean. Schobel is expected to need 8-to-14 weeks to recover.

Adewale Ogunleye (DE) Mia
The Washington Times reports that the Redskins offered a first-round draft pick to the Dolphins in exchange for pass rusher Adewale Ogunleye. The Dolphins didn't bite but could change their minds if Ogunleye is still holding out into training camp.

Two teams have expressed interest in acquiring the disgruntled Adewale Ogunleye from the Dolphins, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The Redskins and Jaguars likely are the two teams most interested in his services. While the Dolphins haven't had any serious discussions about a trade, they may listen if it's a good offer.
