It's been more than two years since the New York Mets were two games over the .500 mark.
New York will look to achieve that mark -- and earn a season-high fifth straight win -- as it faces the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Mets were 55-53 on Aug. 3, 2002, and have failed to reach that mark since.
Now, having won four straight games after a 5-0 win over the Phillies on Tuesday, the Mets are hoping to continue their winning ways that have them within two games of first place in the NL East.
Despite all of his team's recent success -- going 14-7 in the last 21 games -- Mets skipper Art Howe is preaching a one-game at a time approach, however.
``We're not close enough yet,'' Howe said. ``If we're one game out, I'll think about it. But I hope I'll have those thoughts (about first place).''
The Phillies remain tied for first place with the Florida Marlins, despite having their offense shut down by the Mets.
Philadelphia came into Tuesday's game having averaged seven runs in its last 10 games.
The Phillies' lone bright spot was the return of first baseman Jim Thome, who had missed five games with a sore right index finger.
Philadelphia manager Larry Bowa says while he's happy Thome is back in the lineup, the first baseman isn't back at full strength, and likely won't be at any point this season.
``I think the four or five days really helped that out a lot,'' he said. ``It's tough to say. It was the right thing to do. Hopefully we won't keep having these nagging injuries.''
