Joe Namath. He was brash and cocky but could back it up. He had enough rebel in him for people of my age to identify with him at the time while most of our parents hated him. He was sort of like a rock star. A player who transended his sport. I had followed him in college and was a big fan before he even turned pro. But I quickly became a Jets fan and used to watch every game. And though by that time his knees and been wrecked, he had the quickest release and threw the prettiest pass I ever saw. You probably had to be around in the late 60s to understand the mystique of Broadway Joe, but he was the perfect anti-hero of that time. And a great quarterback.

Man what dont people have a favorite player????
Here is mine. Being a young kid growing up in the 80's and seeing Husker football all the time I loved Husker players and Husker football.
Well it seemed that Bill Walsh like Husker players also. So on Sundays in the 80's in South Dakota we got Viking and 49er games. I love the 49ers because of the Husker players they had on the team. So after seeing how a 3rd round draft pick who people said had no arm become one of the greatest QBs ever was such a treat to me. Joe Montana was the guy I love to watch. (But still my favorite play he ran was a short pass to Husker Roger Craig with a Husker fullback Tom Rathman in the lead blocking roll...
All the comebacks and the greatest comeback when he came back from a injury that people said he would never come back from again and after two years when he took the field the second half of that Lions game to be the QB for the 49ers the last time was so great...

my favorite player of all time is Mike Singletary. I love defense and I remember how he was feared by other running backs. One of the best MLB to ever play.
I would say payton but i dont remember him at his best as i was too young to witness.

Mike great pick..... I loved watching him with those eyes looking like they would bug out of his head!!! The way he covered the gound and he was like Ronnie Lott. No matter what play or where the play edn up you would always see him at the ball.... I liked Mike a ton.... I wish I could have see Dick Butkus play also that would have been a treat... I had a old high school football coach and Dick was his man. We was told to play like him....
Also Yellow I would have love to see broadway play also. Didnt he run a ton before he hurt his knees also???

Yeah, he was option quarterback at Alabama and led the Tide to the national championship his sophmore year. He was a threat to run for big yardage as well as being a dangerous passer. The knee injuries began his junior year and pretty much killed his running game. By the time he turned pro in '65 he was already pretty near cripple, but his strong arm and quick release made his an outstanding quarterback none-the-less.

That is what I thought but wanted to make sure. Funny how all these QB's that come out make it seem as if they are the first to do what they do. Elway was the first running QB, then Culpepper and now Vick but they can go back a heck of a lot futher and see that it always has been part of the game...
My favorite player of all time is Priest Holmes. I love to root for the underdogs. And I believe he was never drafted and now he dominates. The best RB IMO right now. The sad thing is that the Pats could of had him. :(
