Bowa's daughter released from hospital
Daily News Staff Report
Tori Bowa, the 20-year-old daughter of Phillies manager Larry Bowa, was released from Methodist Hospital last night after being involved in a car accident at the stadium complex before the Phils-Braves game.
According to a police report, Tori Bowa was driving eastbound on Pattison Avenue in her BMW around 3:43 p.m. Trying to make a left turn northbound onto Darien Street, she was struck by a Ford Explorer driven by Jason Osner, 25, an on-duty SEPTA police officer heading westbound on Pattison. The front end of the unmarked Explorer struck her right front fender, throwing the car onto the sidewalk and against the wall of the parking plaza for which she was headed.
The Explorer glanced into a Mack truck driven by Robert Frederick, 30, who was stopped at a red light heading south on Darien. Both the BMW and Explorer were totaled.
Larry Bowa accompanied his daughter to the hospital, then returned to the ballpark for the game. His wife, Sheena, remained at the hospital with their daughter.
Larry Bowa said his daughter suffered a concussion and whiplash.
Osner did not require medical attention. He works for the Inspector General's Office at SEPTA and has been with the agency for 4 years, said SEPTA spokesman Jim Whitaker. The agency would not comment on the ongoing investigation.
Larry Shenk, the Phillies vice president, public relations, said Tori is a college student interning in the team's marketing department this summer.
