I got up yesterday morning at about 5:30am  so that I could catch the 8:00am bus to Philadelphia from New York's Port Authority bus terminal.

I got down to Philly at about 10:20am, and I cought the Market Street train 2 stops to City Hall and then the Broad Street train to the Stadium, arriving at the stadium at about 10:50am.

I didn't have a ticket for the game, but when I got to the stadium, I went to the ticket window and they had either obstructed view seats, or standing room tickets for $10.00. I bought the standing room ticket. :)

The game was supposed to start at 1:05pm, but due to rain the start time was delayed. Then when the game did start, it went 3 innings with the Mets leading 1 - 0 and the Mets starting pitcher Matt Ginter pitching a no hitter/perfect game.

Then the rains came in the top of the 4th inning and the rain delay lasted til about 5:00pm. They resumed the game at 5:30, the Phillies got a hit in their half of the 4th :doublefin & I stayed til 6:00pm. I would have stayed til the end of the game, but I wanted to get the 7:00pm bus back to NYC.

If the Orber Moreno, who came on to relieve Ginter had not given up that 1st Phillies hit, I would have stayed til the no hitter/perfect game was accomplished or til the 1st Phillies batter got a hit.

I was supposed to meet Katrina, her mom, and her cousin Eric at the stadium, but I had no luck getting them on the phone until about 5:50pm when I finally got them and they were already half way home.

The ballpark is very nice, I like how they have both the Phillies bullpen and the Mets bullpen in centerfield, and you can stand right above the bullpen and watch the starting pitcher and the relief pitchers warming up.

A bunch of us should plan a road trip down there for the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. (I say Sunday so we could all do a little extra sleeping on Saturday, have a full day on Sunday, then still have Monday to rest and recover. :) ) If we drove, we wouldn't have to get up so early! Who has cars besides me?? Chuck, would you want to drive if we need two cars? Who else? Kat's mom??

wow sounds like an interesting trip, the bullpen part sounds like a nice idea but how long before oposing pitchers complain about the verbal assault and get things hurled at them

Robin, The Sunday idea sounds like a good idea. I will be in Philadelphia for that 3 game series and I can always meet up with everyone where ever you guys are sitting.

BTW, for Katrina, her mom, and her cousin Eric,
Because of the rain delays, the Phillies are allowing fans with ticket stubs from Monday's game to exchange them for a future game against the Mets - either the remaining two games of the current series or the four-game series July 5-8. Exchanges can be made at the ballpark ticket windows or by mail. . . .

Also, while at yesterday's game, I took some photos of some of the pitchers warming up, and I will post them as soon as I get the roll developed.

Citizen's Bank Ballpark was cool, but weirdly shaped and that oufield seemed short and how the heck can you build a stadium that only holds 44,000 (escpecially since the Vet helped 70,000). I loved the food there, and the Philly's line-up on the baseball cards were cool. I had the distinct displeasure of meeting some rude Phillies fans who don't have any # sense ("Hey, somebody's got ot be in the cellar it might as well be the Mets!..I almost said back "well, somebody's got to be in 2nd, so close but no cigar so it might as well be the Phillies, but I try not to bad mouth the other team, especially in their house (*bad karma*). Time will tell, this is a tight race, and who knows? It is the beauty of baseball

On a positive note, during warm-up prior to the game, we got Zeile, Looper (and a big smile :lust:), Wheeler and Vance Wilson to wave to us wave to us!

I don't like Wheeler with the facial hair.
