Minor Leagues | Scranton sinks Indianapolis

MOOSIC, Pa. - Doubles by Jim Rushford, Pablo Ozuna and Lou Collier helped the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons beat the Indianapolis Indians, 4-2, last night in the International League.
Rushford and Ozuna propelled the Barons to a two-run lead in the second inning, and Scranton scored two more in the fifth as Anderson Machado walked and Collier doubled. He later scored on Ozuna's grounder.
Indianapolis outhit the Red Barons but stranded seven runners in scoring position.
The Red Barons (30-21) won three out of four against Indianapolis, which fell to 28-22 after entering the series with the best record in the league.

READING - The Navigators took a seven-run lead after 31/2 innings, then had to hold off a Phillies rally for the Eastern League win.
The Navigators hit three of their nine doubles in the first inning off Reading starter Layne Dawson to take a 4-0 lead, then hit three more doubles in a three-run fourth to go ahead by 7-0.
The Phillies bounced back with a five-run fourth. John Castellano hit a solo home run, and Carlos Ruiz had a pinch-hit three-run shot in the inning.
Lynchburg 8, Wilmington 7
LYNCHBURG, Va. - Jorge Cortez ripped a three-run double to cap a seven-run ninth and give the Hillcats the come-from-behind victory over the Blue Rocks in the Carolina League. The leftfielder had two doubles and four RBIs in the game.

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Kyle Goldwater struck out seven in seven innings as the Surf beat the Patriots in the first game of an Atlantic League doubleheader.
