here's what the mets SHOULD do
release joe mcewing or trade him for a bag of balls
call up Craig Brazell or Victor Diaz and have them play every interleague game and see what they have
plan#2
still release Mcewing and use danny garcia who is a better hitter and gets on base, as the super utility guy
bring up david wright start him at 3rd during the interleague games and if he succeeds then hey we have a good player for the next 20 years
if he is not doing so well send him down to Norfolk and let him finish the season there and come back as a september callup

McEwing now has both an untradeable and unreleasable contract.

isn't it only like a million and change?
he really has no place on this team with his horrid hitting woes, danny garcia can do what he does for a lower price and for more production

Yeah, I guess it was 2 years, $1M with a $100K signing bonus. However, Franco and Healy have shared the pictures that they have of Wilpon with Super Joe, so he's got that going for him.

Garcia could only play infield, and not every position at that. McEwing can field 8 different positions. That's something to think about.
I sure do miss the Super Joe of 2000. :(

I really see very little purpose to interleague play. There should be one weekend of local rivalries (Mets vs Skanks, Cubs vs White Sox, etc) or even two - one at each stadium - and that should be it. Sure, I'll occasionally get to see a player I normally would not, but that still does not make it worth it to me. Games that don't count do count.

Interleague play is an abomination.
In the days when the East played the East, etc., it meant I had to root for the Skanks to beat the Braves, and that's just WRONG.
It only works in NY, Chicago, LA and San Francisco. And at Shea, there are too many drunk and disorderly Skank fans causing so much trouble that it's just not fun anymore. Mets fans don't want to go to the Bedpan because they fear for their lives.
It sucks. Just end it.

mcewing can play many positions but we have plenty of players who can play 1st ,we have three catchers, cf is pretty much locked down, we have plenty of rf'ers
zeile can play 3rd as can wiggy so really mcewing is useless ,especially with his awful lack of hitting for a bench player
plus danny garcia has played cf in the minors and can play some outfield as well as the infield
there is no point in wasting a roster spot on a guy who can't hit when needed
but time will tell what the mets do

as for interleague play it is a joke that we play the yankees 6 times while nobody else in the division is playing them
thats unfair competition, this whole interleague thing has to go
it was fun when it was new but now its old and it lost it's novelty i guess
