... look out for Luis Gonzalez. Sweet Luis hit his 33rd and 34th tonight to draw the HR race a little bit tighter... While all of the attention is focused on Bonds, LG just quietly goes about his business and is a legitimate triple crown threat!

Yeah Jimbo. I don't know why we're not hearing more about him. Bonds is in a slump right now.

Luis got #35 last night... he is only 2 behind McGwire's pace when he hit 70!

Not that I don't like Mac, but I'd like to see the record get broken!

Don't count too heavily on Bonds to do it. He has begun to choke already. I'm talling you, this guy cannot perform under a spotlight, he melts...

I know one thing, and that is Luis Gonzalez is a shoe-in to make my annual Rock the Rockies team. It seems that every game vs the Snakes, he has a career game of some sort.
As far as breaking the record, I think it's been mentioned before that as it gets later in the season, Bonds just won't see many pitches to KO. Gonzalez may have a chance, but I think it's a small one. I'm sure the other teams in the NL West see what he's doing, and the Snakes have become the team to beat.

I'd go so far as to speculate that pitchers that will pitch around Bonds, will give Luis something to hit, that is how much Barry is disliked around the league. He has spent his entire career alienating people, teammates, other players, management and media alike. I honestly hope he fails, and does so miserably...

Good point, Jimbo. If Bonds somehow does manage to get close, there will be a great backlash directed his way by most of MLB. While I don't think Gonzalez will have the HR record handed to him on a platter, I could see pitchers even defying their managers rather than let Bonds touch the HR record, or even a scarier thought, the sacred 755 (though I don't think his or Big Mac's chances at that are very good. Junior Griffey may be the guy that has a realistic chance at 750+ HRs).

Just thought I'd kick this back up, now that Bonds has smacked #66. I really thought he'd get pitched around, but that hasn't happened. Galarraga was one hell of a pick-up for the Giants.
