1984 World Championship Celebration this weekend
Detroit Tigers World Series Heroes Scheduled to Appear at Comerica Park
DETROIT - Fans will have an opportunity to relive some of the glory from the Tigers 1984 World Championship as Comerica Park will play host to a weekend honoring the beloved team. Many members of the team are scheduled to be on hand throughout the weekend, courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network, including Dave Bergman, Tom Brookens, Roger Craig, Darrell Evans, Guillermo Hernandez, Ruppert Jones, Chet Lemon, Dave Rozema, Dick Tracewski and others.
The festivities begin on Saturday as the Tigers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 7:05 p.m. tilt. The first 10,000 fans will receive a free 1984 collector card, compliments of 3-Dimensional Services, the card features a "scratch-and-win" sweepstakes where 500 random winners will receive a baseball autographed by a 1984 team member. From 5:30-6:30 p.m., many 1984 players and coaches will be stationed at three locations in the park to sign autographs. Fans looking to pick up an additional autograph item should be sure to check out the 2004 Tigers Yearbook, which features articles and photographs commemorating the memorable 1984 season. The yearbook is on sale now for $10 at Comerica Park.
The special events continue on Sunday prior to the Tigers 1:05 p.m. contest with Arizona. Fans should arrive at the park early as a special pre-game ceremony honoring the 1984 team will begin at 12:15 p.m., courtesy of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network.
