Here's a few rumors I've picked up from various sources:

Orioles interested in Boston's Mario Mendoza.

Phillies looking at Montreal's Brad Wilkerson and Livan Hernandez.

NYY looking at ATL's Russ Ortiz and SEA's Freddie Garcia.

Aaron Boone signs with CLE.

The purging of the Royals:
These are among the leading candidates who could be the next to go:

• Matt Stairs, OF: He is drawing considerable interest because he is a proven performer who represents a modest short-term investment: roughly $650,000 at this point for the rest of the season.

• Scott Sullivan, P: One sticking point for the reliever is his contract jumps to $2.6 million in 2005 and requires a $300,000 buyout to void a $2.75 million option for 2006.

• Brian Anderson, P: He signed a two-year deal in the off-season, and his salary will be $3.25 million in 2005.

• Darrell May, P: May's salary jumps from $1.75 million this season to $3.2 million in 2005 with attainable performance bonuses that could add the necessary $50,000 to match Anderson's wage.

• Benito Santiago, C: He is sidelined for the next six to eight weeks while he recovers from a broken bone in his left hand.

• Juan Gonzalez, OF: Gonzalez has not played since May 21. He is taking part in light on-field activities while continuing therapy on the muscle strain in his lower back.

• Joe Randa, 3B: Interest in Randa should heighten as the July 30 non-waiver trading deadline approaches because any team that acquires him will pay a diminishing share of his $3.75 million deal, which includes a $500,000 buyout for 2005. However, he must approve any deal because his contract contains a complete no-trade clause.

MINN supposedly shopping Jacque Jones.

Dodgers offering Guillermo Mota.

BOS looking at Jamie Moyer.
