Many of you may not know, but Adam Everett is six votes short of being the starting shortstop in the All-star game. How many times have you asked yourself "Will my one vote count?" How about your twenty-five votes? I just got done voting 25 times on Astros.com and it took me only ten minutes. It asks you if you want to vote again. You fill out the code it asks and it remembers how you voted the first time. It's easy. Why do we want Everett in the game?
1. Come on, a starting double play combo is cool plus Clemens will likely get the start so you have three Astros in the starting lineup with Berkman likely coming off the bench.
2. I think an all-star start might boost his confidence.
3. Here is the best reason I can think of: it will show up Jimy Williams. Think about it. How will he be able to look the press in the eye and tell them "we're doing the best we can" when he has four all-stars, two future hall of Famers in Biggio and Bagwell, a guy who should be an all-star in Beltran, and the winningest playoff pitcher in history in Pettitte?
