Minor Leagues | Reading stays hot by topping Altoona

READING - Carlos Ruiz and Brian Sanches teamed to lead the Reading Phillies past the Altoona Curve, 5-3, last night in the Eastern League. It was the Phillies' 12th win in their last 15 games.
Ruiz homered, tripled and scored twice, and Sanches earned the victory, pitching 32/3 scoreless innings of relief. He also drove in the game's final run with a sixth-inning double.
Ruiz hit his career-high eighth home run of the season, a solo shot, to tie the game, 2-2, in the third.
Scranton 8, Charlotte 3
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A.J. Hinch's three-run homer capped a five-run 10th inning as the Barons beat the Knights in the International League.
Lou Collier doubled and Mark Smith singled him in to score the go-ahead run in the extra inning.
Charlotte's Ryan Hankins hit a game-tying solo homer in the eighth off winning pitcher Jim Crowell.
Bowie 10, Trenton 9
BOWIE, Md. - Val Majewski, a former Rutgers star, singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th as the Baysox beat the Thunder in the Eastern League.
Kevin Thompson was on base five times for Trenton and stole three bases, and Mitch Jones hit his 19th homer.

ISLIP, N.Y. - Ryan Jones, Stoney Briggs and Troy Cameron homered as the Riversharks beat the Ducks in the Atlantic League.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Rolo Avila was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs as the Bluefish beat the Surf in the Atlantic League.
