I believe that it is a little more than evident that if this team is going to make it to the play-offs we are going to have to IMPROVE THE BULLPEN. And fire Jimy. Weathers has sucked, Gallo has sucked, Miceli isn't an 8th inning pitcher and I can't think of anyone in the pen that doesn't make my butt hairs straighten out in a tight game. Gerry, you have to make another trade....or two.
As far as Jimy goes, am I wrong to think that maybe I want my best reliever to pitch the 8th when the other team's middle of the order hitters are due up? I know, that's not how the book was written. Who wrote the effing book anyway? Why does the closer have to pitch only in the 9th? Bring in your best pitcher to face the other team's best hitters. If he gets through the inning with a minimum of pitches then he can pitch 9th as well. You just don't use him tomorrow. As it turned out, Lidge pitched both innings anyway. WTF?????
So Houston, trade for Redding forJamie Walker (you thought enough of him to draft him in the 10th round in 1992 in the first place), trade a couple of A and AA players for another reliever and , oh yeah...fire Jimy!
