Okay. So it's the Royals. I don't care. A win is a win, and the Royals did win the previous night, and the pitcher our guys faced (Anderson) is having a bad time of it. But there's something to be said for leaping on bad pitching and taking advantage of errors.

And Danny Cabrera is Chief Alien..... this guy just gets on the mound and he's unflappable.

Then we've got Alien David Newhan...... WHAT PLANET IS THIS GUY FROM?!?!?

Chad Mottola..... hasn't hit a homerun in the majors since 1996...... comes up (or down, as it were) from Ottawa and hits a 3-run homerun...... ALIEN!!!!

Oh, man. I hope the Mother Ship doesn't come back to get them for awhile. :D

Mottola, who was making his Orioles debut, had homered in his previous three games with the Ottawa Lynx. He homered to deep left in the third inning with Lopez and Luis Matos, who had two hits, aboard. Mottola's three RBIs was a career high and his home run was his first in the Majors since Sept. 14, 1996, while with the Reds.

"It seems like about 20 years," Mottola said of his previous home run. "The last one was off Fernando Valenzuela, way back when, so that will give you an idea."

David Newhan, who has a 12-game hitting streak since joining the Orioles, homered, his fourth, with Jerry Hairston, who had three hits, aboard.

"I didn't know about Newhan at all, but his numbers speak for themselves," (Javy) Lopez said.

Meanwhile, Cabrera, a rookie right-hander, held the Royals hitless until Ken Harvey's single to lead off the fifth. Cabrera, who said he was not thinking about a no-hitter, walked David DeJesus and Tony Graffanino with the bases loaded in the fifth to force in two runs.

"My ball was moving good," Cabrera said. "I was throwing to both sides of the plate. My team picked me up with everybody making a run. They are all happy and I'm happy." (And I'm happy too, Danny.)

Cabrera, who was coming off a four-hit shutout of the Braves in his previous start, left after seven innings, allowing just three hits and three runs, two earned. He walked five, struck out four, hit a batter and had a wild pitch.

Oh, yeah. And Miggy has a 15-game hitting streak going. :hail:
