Minor Leagues | Thunder beat Baysox; Reading falls

BOWIE, Md. - Chien-ming Wang allowed one run over 72/3 innings followed by strong relief pitching from Charlie Manning and David Shepard as the Trenton Thunder beat the Bowie Baysox, 2-1, last night in the Eastern League.
David Parrish singled home a fourth-inning run that proved to be the game-winner.
Shepard, leftfielder Aaron Rifkin, outfielder Kevin Reese and righthanded pitcher Javier Ortiz were named to the Northern Division team for the Eastern League All-Star Game on July 14.
Altoona 10, Reading 6
READING - Gavin Floyd struck out six batters in seven innings but allowed five runs and took the loss as the Phillies fell to the Curve in the Eastern League.
Floyd hurt his own cause in a four-run Altoona sixth. He hit the leadoff batter and later threw a ball past first that allowed a runner to score.
Reading first baseman Ryan Howard ripped a solo homer in the fifth, his 29th.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Pablo Ozuna scored the winning run on a fielder's choice in the top of the ninth to give the Red Barons the win over the Knights in the International League.
Jim Crowell struck out two in the bottom of the ninth to get his 12th save.

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - Chris Widger's three-run homer keyed a four-run seventh as the Riversharks beat the Ducks in the Atlantic League.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Ryan Minor's 11th home run led the Surf past the Bluefish in the Atlantic League.
