Minor Leagues | Trenton home runs rock New Britain

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Home runs by Kevin Thompson, Mitch Jones, Aaron Rifkin and Tommy Winrow powered Trenton to a 7-3 Eastern League win over the New Britain Rock Cats yesterday, giving the Thunder a split in their four-game weekend series.
Trenton starter Sean Henn settled down after yielding a two-run homer to Kevin West in the first inning and held the Rock Cats scoreless for the remainder of his stint. In 72/3 innings, he allowed the two runs on eight hits, walking four and striking out five.
Winrow, who homered in the eighth, made his debut after being promoted from single-A Tampa in the New York Yankees' farm system. The centerfielder also hit a triple.

MOOSIC, Pa. - Sal Fasano and Andy Phillips combined to drive in seven runs and New York Yankees pitcher Orlando Hernandez looked good in his third rehabilitation start as the Clippers beat the Red Barons in the International League.
Hernandez pitched seven innings - his longest outing with the Clippers - and gave up two runs on five hits while striking out five.

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Michael Bourn tripled, knocked in two runs, scored twice, and walked three times in the BlueClaws' win over the Alley Cats in the South Atlantic League.
Wilmington 2, Salem 1
WILMINGTON - Jon Draper's two-out single scored Bernard Stephens in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Blue Rocks a Carolina League win over the Avalanche.
