Our guy Pudge went 2-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in the All-Star game in Houston. He narrowly missed a two-run homer by inches as he took Clemens deep in the first inning for his RBI triple, knocking in the game's first run. The ball hit the top of the right field wall as Pudge flew around the bases, scoring Ichiro Suzuki. He singled in the second inning as well.
In a disappointing move, AL manager Joe "Me biased?" Torre elected not to play Carlos Guillen, instead sticking with his guy (and inferior '04 baller) Derek Jeter (who finished 3-3). When he did decide to finally pull Jeter, the Rangers' Michael Young got the nod at SS. Of course we all know who this year's top SS in the American League is, and it's a damn shame that he couldn't take a few hacks in his first All-Star game. Hopefully next year Torre won't be in the AS dugout, and Guillen will be starting on his home turf.
Joe, if you can manage to squeeze Tom Gordon in to face ONE batter, you could have managed to find an inning for Guillen. Especially when the game was out of hand, as it was by the seventh inning. My respect for you just dropped down a notch. Don't mess with my boys.
