OH. MY. GOD.

i think i died and went to HEAVEN.

WOW.

let's put it this way, i was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy, i had a Joy-Headache!! :nut: i'd never had a joy-headache before. but i was so overwhelmed with joy and elation, i could barely breathe and my head throbbed. i couldn't take in all the happiness i was feeling.

omigod.

so i get there and outside keyspan park, i see no one. so i'm thinking "oh, maybe this is gonna be lame. maybe no one will show up...... where the heck IS everyone?"

then i see a sign that points to the clinic, a woman appears and tells me to go through like 3 double doors and then go into the locker room. i walk in and there i find like 40 women, all talking and excited and eager to start.

we get our OWN lockers! our names are on them and there is a cute t-shirt for each of us!

when everyone is there, the coordinator leads us to the cyclones dugout (so cool!) we're all sitting there in the dugout and OMIGOD the field is incredible. the coordinator gives us a welcome speech and we discover we have the whole stadium to ourselves  i'm dying, too excited for words then she introduces the cyclone players. omigod. Bunt-Homerun is there and is gonna teach us to HIT!!!!!!! omigod! then she announces that Cutestartingpitcher is gonna teach us to throw and we're gonna learn all the different pitches!

and then the coordinator is talking about the rules of major league baseball and asks if anyone knows how far the outfield is at shea and without hesitating, a bunch of women shout out "410 ft!" met fans! YES!

then she asks "ok, how bout yankee stadium?"

the woman next to me blurts out "WHO CARES!" and everyone applauds and shouts out YEAAAAAHHH!! turns out we have a rowdy bunch of hardcore female met fans!! YESSS! this is getting better and better every minute!

SOON we are on the field. this is where i thought i was gonna die of euphoria. omigod. i can't even begin to explain how unbelievably cool it is to be on that gorgeous delicious edible field.

the cyclone players. omigod. how AMAZING are they. so unbelievably cool and down to earth. and cute!!!!!!!!!! holy jesus!

kevin taught us fielding. omigod. i can't believe he helped me learn to pick up grounders better! omigod! we did these cool double-play setups and practiced doing them, showing us how to best move our bodies (footwork is key!) it was a little tricky but SOOO MUCH FREAKIN FUN!! i never had so much fun in my life. omigod.

brink taught us how to hit better. i was so nervous. but i got into yoga mode and he said i had the best balance!!!! i wanted to die. he said my swing was beautiful. ahhhhh! then he called bunt-homerun watts to check out my swing!!! pinch me i've died and gone to heaven

bunt-homerun watts taught us how to bunt. EEK THAT WAS HARD  i sucked at it. couldn't do it at first. at least, not the way they showed us, the correct way. the cyclones manager came over to me and stood behind me to show me the correct form. man, did you get LOTS of attention and detailed instruction here. it was unbelievable.

then we learned throwing, the correct dynamics, how to hold the ball properly, the different types of pitches. cutestartingpitcher was fantastic, walking around and making sure we were doing it right. i had a ton of questions for him. omigod he helped me throw better. wow. i knew i was doing something wrong with the way i was holding the ball and putting too much emphasis on my arm. he helped me throw with more efficiency. i love him. omigod. i was so happy.

then we grabbed a partner and played catch. i had female-Pudge-Rodriguez as a partner. this little girl was a BADASS catcher omigod. she could throw from brooklyn to queens and get the runner out at second. she was scary. but she was cool and told me the key is not to be afraid of the ball. omigod the women there were so cool. all met fans, y-word-haters, great people and super fun.

i don't think i've ever experienced that much JOY in one afternoon. seriously i thought i was gonna pass out i was so happy i stopped breathing. it was one of the funnest times i've ever had in my life. i think i reached the joy-limit--that's about as much joy my body could stand in one day. any more and i would implode.

as if that wasn't enough, afterwords we got free lunch (on that cool deck/eating area by the cyclones store). the cyclone players sat with us and had lunch with us. lunch was perfect. everything was perfect. it was the most perfect wonderful amazing day i've had in a long time.

i'm still high from it. and i still got a little bit of my Joy Headache.

*sigh* :lust:

Cyn, Glad you had a great time at the first annual ladies baseball clinic.

Now if the Cyclones can only have a clinic for the men.

Cyn, glad you had such a great time! Your description of the day is great!

I don't suppose you took any pics, did ya? I would actually understand if you didn't, since obviously, you were busy learning baseball skills; it'd be kinda weird to say to a Cyclones player, "That's a cool tip! Hold on, while I take your picture!" ;)

Now if the Cyclones can only have a clinic for the men.

Yeah, really! But I don't see that ever happening. :( I doubt the Cyclones players would care to meet a bunch of guys who are out of shape and who still think they can make the majors! For now, we men who want a similar experience will need to fork over $3500 and head over to the Mets Fantasy Camp in Florida (I'm actually considering doing that next year... I'm still young enough were I wouldn't totally embarrass myself! )

Robin, Teuffel is now a manager in Port St Lucie, and HoJo is now a hitting coach in Binghamton. Ojeda left the Mets organization back in January after a falling out over pitching philosophies.

After I posted, I remembered the Bobby O incident.

So there are NO former Mets with the Cyclones??

Not right now.

But, if my prayers are answered, there will be one in a few years...
