Lofton or Jeter is better off as a lead off hitter :hmm:

I agree. I'd prefer to see either one of them lead-off.

He sucks from day one!
He was sent to AAA Columbus today.

Graman sent to Triple-A Columbus

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- The New York Yankees optioned left-hander Alex Graman to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday and recalled reliever Scott Proctor from the Clippers.

Graman got just one out in his second major league start Monday night at Tampa Bay, allowing five runs and five hits in the Yankees' 9-7 loss. He was filling in for Mike Mussina, on the 15-day disabled list with a stiff right elbow.

Mussina is scheduled to resume playing catch Thursday. If all goes well, he could throw off a mound a few days later. Mussina probably will need two or three sessions on the mound before possibly pitching in a game.

Long man Tanyon Sturtze could take the open spot in the rotation and pitch in Boston on Saturday.

"We're leaning that way," Yankees manager Joe Torre said. "We're considering that very seriously."

New York also could go with Triple-A left-hander Brad Halsey, who was up earlier this season.

Kevin Brown was scheduled to make his second rehabilitation start Tuesday night for Columbus. [Just a note: During that start, Brownie allowed two runs on five hits in four innings.] Torre doesn't expect Brown to return in time to pitch Sunday at Boston, but the manager hasn't completely ruled it out.

"I don't think he'd be ready to come back," Torre said. "I think we'd want to do another rehab. But again, let's see how good it is and we'll basically go from there."

Brown is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained lower back.

The 26-year-old Graman failed to get out of the third inning in his major league debut against the Chicago White Sox on April 20, even though the Yankees staked him to a big lead with a seven-run first inning.

In his two starts for the Yankees, Graman has allowed 10 runs and 13 hits in three innings for an ERA of 30.00. Including a two-inning relief appearance in which he allowed one run against Boston on April 23, his overall ERA is 19.80.

Proctor went 2-3 with a 2.75 ERA in 31 games for Columbus.
