UGHHH what a freakin tease!!!!
The deal fell through that would have gotten rid of him
oh well at least it shows they are trying to get rid of him which gives me a little hope

Odd man out: The Mets had hoped to trade utilityman Joe McEwing to clear a roster spot for David Wright. But when a deal with San Diego fell through, right-handed reliever Dan Wheeler was optioned to Class AAA Norfolk.

oh another good tidbit in the article which shows mcewing is worthless as ive been saying forever
no need to keep a guy who can't hit

Extra bases: While McEwing didn't get dealt, his days could be numbered. For the first time, Howe said he would be willing to use Jose Reyes at shortstop, a decision that eliminates any need for McEwing. "We're not going to close any doors right now," Howe said. "We're going to do whatever we can to win." ...

Who would be willing to take Mcewing anyways?
He's a decent utilityman but as you said he can't hit for s**t.

He definitely can't hit. But, as of now, he's the only bona fide substitute shortstop whose name isn't Jose Reyes.

Well im glad the mets are willing to use Reyes as a backup now, and releasing Mcewing soon
Better off using his roster space on another arm
