Time to become sellers instead of buyers, this team has too many problems that a deadline trade can solve
Keep the young talent instead of wasting them on a pointless trade
maybe adding some minor league help can actually work, braves are going with an untested lefty in the pen and seem to be going well they got Charles Thomas filling in nicely
maybe dumping some of these washed up relievers and bringing up young arms we have more luck
dump blowtallico, stanton, bring up Yates Parra Feliciano or whoever
they can't be any worse
time to see what the young guys can do since the old crones ain't doin jack
the only positive is the core is starting to get set with Reyes and Wright here and Kazmir, Huber and Peterson about a a year away

Parra is on the DL. Just so you know.
Besides that, however, he is 31 years old (32 in November) and has pitched in the US, Korea, Japan, Mexico and Taiwan. There's got to be a reason for all that moving around. This guy personifies the term "journeyman." You cannot pin all your hopes on him.
Let's see...
His career major-league (before this year) W-L is 6-12. His ERA is 6.33. His WHIP is 1.69. None of his career numbers is stellar. Perhaps he'll be like Leiter or Reed, both of whom blossomed in their thirties, but there are no guarantees.

I know Parra is on the DL with a bogus injury, but I still want to see him on the team because at least he was effective up until his last outing where he got "hurt" and hopefully he can get better in his thirties like a Reed or Leiter , can't hurt anymore than continuing to go with thse other guys
I know i cannot pin my hopes on a guy like Parra or a Feliciano but really we have no other choice ,why keep throwing games away? sooner or later one of the teams in the division is going to get hot and runaway with this divison which the braves are starting to do
Lets just inject some youth into the team and stand pat on the trades, like you've said before Glavine and Leiter ,Traachsel are going nowhere so we have to keep those guys, but the bullpen is just awful
lets see like last year what we have in the minors who can help us for next year
Trade Erickson by the deadline, bring up Heilman and give him another shot and see if he fits into our future plans and obviosuly replace the old bullpen arms
I don't know what else to say other than it's frsutrating to see them throw away these games

I don't think Hielman will fix anything. The guy is just another sub par arm. He is another Rush. Aside for the bull crap bullpen, I agree with you the whole way. It has to be replaced. The Mets still could make a run at it and with some good arms in there They can probably win the division.

We were so close! And the Braves. . .

I still hate the Braves.
You say you want to sell.
Let's take a look. Glavine is untradeable because of his contract. As is Piazza. Leiter is a 10-and-5 guy so he's not going anywhere. Trachsel just signed an extension, meaning he's under contract through '06. Plus, he's the youngest of the "big 3," so there's no need to dump him.
Franco and Stanton are making themselves untradeable. Orber is the future. We need to keep him. Looper is a keeper. I don't know how long De Jean is under contract for, but he's been decent outside of Camden Yards, so why not give him a shot.
Floyd, Cameron and Hidalgo are still young and they're producing, so there's no need to dump them.
Reyes and Wright are the future, so they're staying.
What does that leave? McEwing (whom no one wants), Vance Wilson and Jason Phillips (who's been unproductive and would be hard to trade).
Looks to me as if we're sticking with what we've got.

I don't abandon hope till we're mathmatically out.
This is still better then last year....
This years team will win some and lose some. They'll make ypu smile and cry. They'l lmake you love them, they'll make you hate them. This all translates into .500 team.
Being beat by the Braves is insult to injury, though.
Some reporter in the Post says the Mets have 10% chance of winning the division. When it is 0%, I'll stop believing.
Franco needs to retire for the good of the team and become a BP coach....
I'm going to Montreal for all FOUR games, I'll straigten all their *sses out....I am staying in the team hotel.

I still believe we have a shot, but an Expo sweep wouldn't hurt one bit.

I like the Expos and resent what MLB has done to them.
But we do need a sweep.

That's the spirit!!! I mean, let's not forget 1973 or even much more recently: 1999, when the Mets were "out of it" (according to Chipper Jones) and then somehow managed to make the playoffs!
This is still better then last year....
WAAAY better and much more exciting! I doubt anyone here would want a repeat of last year, no matter how annoying this year's team can be at times!

Umm, Kat, any time you're ready, please start straightening whatever you need to straighten!!! :D
