Newly acquired Dmitri Young has signed a contract extension with the Tigers. I believe it was in the four year/$28 million dollar range. Young joins Sparks, Weaver, Anderson, Patterson and Halter as players who have re-signed with the club since January 1.
I have to view this trend as a positive sign. Guys like Anderson, Weaver and Young could command some interest (and cash) from a number of teams via free agency, but they have all chosen to stay. In light of the Tigers' recent lack of success, the signings have to indicate something the players see positive in Comerica Park's future. I can only hope.
