PORT ST. LUCIE — A New York Mets outfielder who was involved in a March fracas outside a pizza parlor was arrested Tuesday on a DUI charge, according to an arrest report.
Michael Shane Spencer, 32, reportedly told a Florida Highway Patrol trooper he’d had a "few" after stopping at the St. Lucie West Boulevard off ramp when asked whether he’d had any alcohol to drink.
"I asked how many was a few," the report states. "He said six or seven."
The exchange happened about 3:20 a.m. after Spencer reportedly was driving 98 mph — 28 mph over the limit — south on Interstate 95 in a white Volvo.
