Rick Reed's agent, responding to speculation that Reed is going to rescind his trade demand since he called the Twins and asked them to make ST arrangements for him, has stated that Reed will definately become a Free Agent on March 15th if his trade demand isn't met.

This gets rid of that $7 million albatross around the Twins neck and frees up some money to maybe add a player or two:thumbsup:

I personally don't think Reed is as awfull a pitcher as he showed last year for the Twins but there is no way he is worth $7 mil a year. And to be honest, he's going to find that out the hard way when he declares FA and has to shop for a contract.

You're darned right Reeder is not as bad as he looked with the Twins. He was the Mets' most consistent pitcher while he was here last year. He made the All-Star team, but couldn't pitch because of an injury.

I want him back so badly I can't even tell you.

Crap, here we go again.:devilfire

Reed's agent now says that Reed would really like to remain with the Twins. All they want is for the Twins to guarantee his option year, 2004, at $8 mil+. Yeah right.

He claims that if Reed goes FA on March 15th that he is sure they can get a deal for more than the $15 million Reed is owed for 2002 and 2003. :ummm: Guess they haven't been watching this offseason very close?

I personally think that they know darn well that Reed has no chance to get a bigger deal, they are trying to con the Twins into thinking there is a market for him, so they will take the option for 2004.

His problem was he gives up many homers. In Shea he could get away with alot of the flyballs but not at the Metrodome. Lefty hitters hit quite a few home runs against him... he's just a bad fit for Minnesota and it would be best for eash side if he left.
