Knotts Going on DL

The Tigers placed P Gary Knotts on the 15-day DL with a sore right shoulder 1 day after he lasted only 2 1/3 innings in a loss to Cleveland.

He was shelled for 7 runs on 7 hits in his short outing when he told manager Alan Trammell about his shoulder.

In his place,the Tigers have recalled reliever Roberto Novoa from AA Erie.

Novoa,24,will be making his ML debut as a middle to long reliever out of the bullpen.He was 5-0 with a 2.93ERA and 4 saves for Erie this season.

Word is Ledezma is going to take Knotts' spot in the rotation. I doubt Ledezma will stay in the rotation long, as part of the reason for his promotion was the big number of innings he had already thrown this season. They wanted him to throw a bit less, as he's never pitched this many innings in pro ball before.
